Green Frontier Fest Features and Highlights

The Green Frontier Fest invites residents and visitors to enjoy interactive and educational exhibits, a farmers market of local and organic produce, a children's area, eco-carnival games, music and entertainment and special presentations by guest speakers, among other activities.

  • Daryl Hannah
    Famous actress and keen environmentalist, Daryl Hannah has her own weekly video blog called DH Love Life on sustainable solutions. She is often the sound recordist, camera person and on-screen host for the blog. Her home runs on solar power and is built with green materials. She drives a car that runs on biodiesel.1
  • Van Jones
    Van Jones is the founder and president of Green For All, based in Oakland, California.  The mission is to help build an inclusive, green economy - strong enough to lift millions of people out of poverty. Van is a tireless advocate, championing "green-collar jobs and opportunities" for disadvantaged people. He is committed to creating "green pathways out of poverty," while greatly expanding the coalition fighting global warming. (read more at www.vanjones.net)
  • Colorado Governor Bill Ritter
    Bill Ritter, Jr. was elected as Colorado's 41st governor in 2006 -- the first Colorado-born governor in more than 35 years. He has quickly established Colorado as a national leader in renewable energy by creating a New Energy Economy, doubling the state's renewable energy portfolio and attracting a number of major manufacturing and research companies to Colorado.  He is reforming energy and natural resource issues by requiring more responsible drilling and stronger protections for Colorado's air, land, water, wildlife and communities.
  • City of Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper
    A small businessman who had never previously run for political office, John Hickenlooper was elected Mayor of Denver in 2003 and reelected in 2007. Since taking office, among other accomplishments, he built an unprecedented partnership with Denver Public Schools, launched efforts to create a more business-friendly environment in city government, initiated a citywide campaign to end homelessness, and created Denver’s sustainable development initiative.

Tour the Xcel Energy Decathlon Solar Home
The Xcel Energy Solar Decathlon House demonstrates the latest in residential efficiency and solar technology.  During the Green Frontier Fest, the house will be open for public tours -- showing attendees what we can all do to live greener at home.

View a 40 meter (over 131 feet!) wind turbine blade manufactured in Colorado.
Collocated with the Green Frontier Fest, Vestas, the world’s leading supplier of wind power solutions, will display a blade for a commercial scale wind turbine. The blade will remain on display, as part of the New Energy Station displays, for public viewing through Tuesday, August 26th.

Free concerts with local bands, such as the popular U.S. Pipe, all day long - plan to enjoy great music all day long!
